Chair

I’m Karen, Chair of BMTC.

I have had a lifelong passion for the stage, first treading the boards at just four years old as part of my local dance school. My early love of performance led me to become a dance teacher in my teens, before naturally progressing into acting during my later teenage years, appearing in both amateur theatre and school productions.

In 2021, I joined BMTC, making my debut as Miss Prism in The Importance of Being Earnest. Since then, I have taken on a variety of roles across plays and pantomimes. More recently, I have also stepped into directorial roles, contributing to the creativity and experience of BMTC productions behind the scenes.

I have a particular passion for pantomime with its unique ability to bring people together through humour, tradition, music, dance, and spectacular costumes. I firmly believe in its power to create joy for audiences and performers alike.

A couple of years ago, I took on the role of Chair following the retirement of the much-loved Paul Green, who relocated to Somerset.

I am proud to lead such a warm and dedicated group, and consider it a privilege to be part of the BMTC family, helping to continue its strong sense of community and love of theatre.
