ABOUT BMTC

BRINGING MUSICAL THEATRE TO LIFE IN BINGHAM

Bingham Musical Theatre Company is a long‑established community theatre group based in Bingham, South Nottinghamshire, producing high‑quality musicals, plays, pantomimes, concerts, and live theatre for local audiences. We perform at least twice a year, and our mission is to offer the community a few hours of escapism through engaging and creative productions. Moreover, we aim to make performing arts accessible and enjoyable for everyone in the region.

We welcome new members from across Bingham, Nottingham, Radcliffe‑on‑Trent, East Bridgford, and the wider Nottinghamshire area. Whether you’re a performer, singer, dancer, or musician, or whether you prefer backstage roles such as set design, costume making, prop building, stage management, or technical theatre, there is a place for you in our friendly amateur dramatics society. In addition, joining us is a great way to meet new people and develop new skills.

Founded in 1957, we celebrated our 60th anniversary in 2017. Originally, we were known as Bingham Amateur Operatic Society, under which we are still a registered charity. Over time, our focus evolved, and in 2004 we became Bingham Musical Theatre Company, reflecting our growing commitment to musical theatre. Since then, we have continued to expand our creative ambitions.

Our repertoire now includes a wide range of musicals, straight plays, family shows, and immersive theatre experiences. For example, one of our most memorable productions was our 2015 adaptation of A Christmas Carol. During this performance, audiences were guided through the historic Radcliffe Hall, allowing the story of Bob Cratchit and Ebenezer Scrooge to unfold around them in a unique and atmospheric setting. As a result, the production became one of our most talked‑about events.

Today, we remain a thriving part of the Nottinghamshire amateur theatre community, and we continue to grow, evolve, and create exciting opportunities for performers and audiences alike. Ultimately, our goal is to bring people together through the shared joy of live theatre.
