Rhys Sandford

Marketing Director

Hi, I’m Rhys Sandford, the new Marketing Director for BMTC.

Marketing, branding, and business growth are what I do day to day, so stepping into this role feels like a really exciting opportunity to bring those skills into a group that means a lot to the local community.

Professionally, I work as Head of Marketing for Exploded Sweets, where I lead on brand growth, digital strategy, content, and customer engagement across a range of platforms. Alongside that, I also run my own consultancy, RKS Growth Strategy Solutions, helping businesses improve their marketing, systems, and overall growth.

I’ve not actually made it onto the BMTC stage myself… yet. I’ve previously helped out backstage and front of house, so I’ve seen firsthand what goes into making everything run smoothly. That said, I wouldn’t completely rule out a debut one day, although I think I’ll need a bit of persuading first.

A big part of what I enjoy is finding ways to make brands feel more human, more visible, and more connected to the people they serve. That is exactly the approach I want to bring to BMTC. For me, marketing is not just about promotion, it is about building trust, creating personality, and helping people feel part of something.

I joined the committee because I see a lot of potential in BMTC, not just in its productions, but in the wider role it can play in the community. I want to help strengthen the society’s presence, showcase the people behind it, and make sure more people see what BMTC is all about.

I’m looking forward to helping shape a stronger community presence for BMTC, building engagement across our platforms, and supporting the continued growth of the society both on and off the stage.
